Alerts we send
- Emergency alerts — sent only during in-the-moment emergencies, for example a Tornado Warning, a fire or evacuation, a shelter-in-place instruction, a gas leak, a security emergency, or a safety check-in during an emergency, and the “all clear” when the situation ends. Non-urgent notices are sent by email, not by text.
- Sign-up confirmation — one automatic text when your enrollment is accepted, repeating how to get help (HELP) and opt out (STOP).
- Test messages — occasional tests to confirm the system works.
- Acknowledgement requests — an alert may ask you to reply YES to confirm you received it or that you are safe; if you do, you get one short confirmation text.
- Service replies — responses to HELP, STOP and START requests.
Every alert begins with “EMERGENCY - Jaiya Seibert:”, “URGENT JAIYA SEIBERT ALERT:” or “Jaiya Seibert Alert:”. Example:
EMERGENCY - Jaiya Seibert: Tornado Warning for our area until 7:45 PM. Go to the basement of your building now. If there is no basement, go to an interior room on the lowest floor, away from windows. Stay there until the all-clear text. Reply YES to confirm you received this alert.
